Northern Project

Representing our greatest challenge to date is our pledge to create – THE NORTHERN PROJECT – sounds grand, it is. Having established ourselves in the north of England, especially so initially in Greater Manchester and County Durham we are to expand our programmes across several counties.

Our aim is to bring together organisations of many different types by offering them inclusion through membership. We can actively involve communities linked to those organisations in educational, ceremonial and awareness initiatives and profile our members inclusively on cases or initiatives no matter how big or small.

Let’s provide some examples here – In certain communities such as Wigan, famous for Coal-Mining and Rugby League we can link history and heritage through sporting heroes and working class heroes simultaneously. On Tyneside we can profile great local history such as Shipbuilding and the integration of communities that settled in the area, men from different backgrounds who lived and fought together side-by-side.

We are also actively and very uniquely involved with multi-cultural inclusion, always making a point of the sacrifices of those from other religious and ethnic backgrounds. If the world ever is to be a better place we have to understand why we have evolved, more often than not it is difficult for society to learn from the lessons of the past, but awareness plays a key role in this.

The artefacts we have each tell their own incredible stories and we have proved they bring families and communities together, we have numerous examples that come from all over, from places such as; Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria, Yorkshire, County Durham, Tyneside and Teesside.

Your membership is our sponsorship, we can’t function without it, by becoming an individual member, group or corporate members you become a part of the journey that links the past to the present and ensures every day that we preserve our collective heritage.

Whether you are a - School, College, University, Sporting Club, Local Authority, Historical Society, Community Group, Religious Organisation, Museum, Trades Union or just the average person in the street we have something of interest for you.

The north of England shaped the world, through hard work, toil and sacrifice, too many people are ignorant of this or they simply just don’t want to know Let’s tell them, come and join our Northern Project and become a Member of the JAMES GARNETT FOUNDATION.
